Weinergate Aftermath: Republican gain in special election

Well, no matter how you wanna spin this, it can’t be good for the Democrats.

In the special election for Anthony Weiner’s congressional seat in NY, it’s Republican Bob Turner for the win.  In a district historically a slam dunk for Democrats, the tide has turned.  The district went 55% percent for Obama in 2008.  Will it again?

There are various thoughts on what this might or might not mean, but I’m inclined to agree with the Washington Post:

“… special elections are notoriously unreliable as predictors of future results. But for now, Democrats have reason to be spooked.”
