Rick Perry – For and Against? Prediction & Personal Attack

Rick Perry for President?

Gene Simmons is convinced.

“Gov Perry worked for Al Gore and then switched to Republican. He will be our next President. I’ve never been wrong.”

Some vehemently hope not. In fact, check out this planned Austin Chronicle ad trying to draw out any who have had sex with Rick Perry.

“It’s not even a personal attack. It’s an ad hoping it can make a personal attack later. Is this really where we are?”

This may be a new low in politics. Something tells me this is going to be an ugly election season.

  1. Now, Shirley, you can’t be serious.

Well, you probably know some could perceive “vitriol and hate” in your comment, CR, especially without examples to substantiate. I would be open to examples of those using Christ’s name in the manner described.

To be fair, if one feels he can’t make a positive impact and the ship’s going down, I can understand wanting to get in a lifeboat. So, I can understand Rick Perry sending a message to communicate self-preservation as an option. (You may know more about what Rick Perry wanted, but I only knew he mentioned it as something not to be ruled out.)

Conversely, if one feels he has a significant chance to improve things for the many, including himself and his, then I can understand pursuing that opportunity. Hence, I can understand Rick Perry wanting to improve America, and Texas as a consequence.

I don’t see that as anywhere near inconsistent or hypocritical. If I could speculate on his feelings, I’d say it’s not America about which he has reservations, but the Obama-influenced America of the present and future.

I have not read his book, but I probably should to make a more informed decision. I thank you for the suggestion.

  2. Have you Perry’s book, “Fed Up”? He is a neanderthal conservative living in the 1950’s era when Jim Crow ruled the South and you could take someone you disliked and lynch him, Texas-style while calling yourself a Christian. Funny, how someone who called for Texas to secede from the union last year, now suddenly wants to become its president? I really wish all these TeaPublicans would leave Jesus Christ;s name out of their vitriol and hate. They shame the Name of our Lord and Savior by their evil words and hateful attitudes.

  3. If the key issue really is the economy and people want jobs, his 40% statistic has to have their timbers shivering. I think the other Republican hopefuls have to also see him as the man to beat. I don’t feel any heat from Romney, though I know he’s given a lot of pub.

I also think you’re right about Perry overcoming cheap attacks. I think he will be more aggressive in taking on such tomfoolery, unlike Sarah Palin who almost seemed reticent due to potential perceptions she was harsh or cold or aggressive or whatever.

  4. The left (pols & MSM) are terrified of Perry. I don’t think a lot of these attacks will stick though. Perry is smart and won’t be painted into a corner like Palin was.
