“I am my brother’s keeper.”
Barack Obama in a highly-touted speech at Saddleback Church on World AIDS Day, Dec. 1, 2oo6.
“I think America’s greatest moral failure in my lifetime has been that we still don’t abide by that basic precept in Matthew that whatever you do for the least of my brothers, you do for me. And notion of — that basic principle applies to poverty. It applies to racism and sexism. It applies to, you know, not having — not thinking about providing ladders of opportunity for people to get into the middle class. I mean, there is a pervasive sense I think that this country is wealthy and powerful as we still don’t spend enough time thinking about the least of these.”
Barack Obama on the moral failure of not addressing the least of these, particularly those in poverty at the Saddleback Forum, August 16, 2008.
Barack Hussein Obama: 2007 income of 4 million dollars, lives in 1.6 million dollar mansion.
George Hussein Obama: 2007 income of twelve dollars, lives in 6x1o ft hut.

The left has compassion for humanity as an abstract entity but particular individuals is another matter. The left wants to rain down money on the “least of these” as long as it is someone else’s money. Personally giving themselves is another matter [see Philanthropy Expert: Conservatives Are More Generous]. When it comes to a favorite cause of the left, Barack Obama declares that he is his brother’s keeper. He is his sister’s keeper [see citation above for video link to hear the comments in context]. He condemns America for failing to remember Matthew 25 (through the arm of the government, of course). But what about Obama’s actual half-brother, George Hussein Obama? Barack stated that Christ’s basic principle as stated in Matthew applies to “poverty” and I think living on less than a dollar a day in a 6×10 foot hut qualifies as poverty. I am my brother’s keeper, indeed.
