>I really don’t have any comment on this, but I thought you all might. 🙂
>I agree with Mark that is great to have something like this on TV to give people something to think about. Although I am not a big fan of Wright, I do find him to be funny at times. I would prefer to error with caution with the use of the word scholar. My perspective on the use of the word scholar would incorporate someone who is mastered in several fields of study, and not just primarily one, (i.e. Leonardo De Vinci)
>”but his real worth is in the long haul.”Wright is indeed a scholar’s scholar. He sits in on our New Testament seminars here at Durham on Monday nights during term and he is very engaging. Again, his sense of humour is a real plus as he can cut someone to ribbons in an argument and smile while doing it.
>Indeed. I’ve read all of Wright’s famous trilogy of scholarly books (about 2000 pages in all), and he is a scholar whose work rewards long hours spent. He is a funny guy in interviews, but his real worth is in the long haul.
>The host makes a great point about the time it would take to argue something like this out! Certainly 5-6 minutes is tough especially when they are both trying to out-humour one another. Tom Wright is quite a humorous person and they seemed to be feeding on one another.Anyway, no comments on the content of the conversation since it seemed to be all over the place. But I appreciate both for presenting some kind of dialogue on a show like this where people just might become curious.
