US Supreme Court

>Lock, Stock, and Barrell

The Supreme Court of the United States of America has made an unprecedented ruling concerning the peoples’ right to bear arms. In a 5-4 ruling, the court ruled that the 2nd Amendment does not pertain to only state militias, but also to the individual. At least something right is coming out of D.C.

  2. >It’s actually shocking that 4 justices denied that it’s an individual right.I read through Scalia’s write-up and it only confirmed what I read in the 1982 US Senate Constitutional committee’s findings. The ruling sets the groundwork for overturning a lot more gun laws, since it establishes the 2nd as an individual right, which cannot be capriciously & arbitrarily regulated. From there it should follow that most gun laws will be seen to be arbitrary & capricious, especially when compared to laws concerning any other “right”. This is why the opposition couldn’t concede on this matter. They know that once they have to recognize an individual right, there is no way to sensibly require registration & licensing.

  4. >”…the court ruled that the 2nd Amendment does not pertain to only state militias, but also to the individual.”Which is exactly what has been true all along.
