>New Times helps McCain?

> You may have all seen by now the New York Times piece insinuating, even if not actually saying, McCain maybe, kinda, could have had an inappropriate relationship with a lobbyist (at least that’s what a friend of a friend said!). Shortly thereafter, most media outlets picked up on the sloppy nature of the article. Just thought I would post a couple of articles detailing how the Times may have actually done what McCain himself could not do: rally conservatives around McCain:

the New York Times piece.

Fit to Print? (was this gossip passing as news?)

McCain fundraising off the story.

How the McCain campaign hit back.

  1. >I figured he’d announce this morning when I heard that he was going to be on Meet the Press. Now I’m just waiting for Bay Buchanan or Ralph Reed or Kirk Cameron or somebody alliterative to announce candidacy as a fourth-party conservative.

  4. >The New York Times is such a far left-wing radical gossip sheet, although it does still serve some purpose as people line their puppy kennels and bird cages with it. But overall it’s downright unreliable since its reporters would rather be wrong than give up a story to another paper. However, I love it when smear politics turn around and bite the opponent on the #*!@. That is exactly what is happening now. But what I like more than anything is that McCain is able to stand in front of his critics and deny the charges flat-footed and honestly. There’s nothing worse than a candidate cowering behind the cameras waiting for things to cool down while he waits for his campaign directors (or cabinet members) to put some spin on the situation (you now, “Well it depends on what is is…”).I like the fact he has confronted the situation head on and shown the New York Times to be the rag sheet is really is.
